Hello world!
Here are the top 6 reasons to choose a Nomad Lifestyle.
Location Freedom.
Of course, the most obvious benefit is location freedom. Especially with the rise in digital positions and the availability of the internet, your workspace is limited only by you. Want to work on the beach? In the mountains? On a ship? In the countryside? A remote village? It’s all available to you. Variety in workspaces has been shown to improve overall happiness and productivity. Even if you work from a coffee shop one day and your living room the next, you’ll be doing yourself and your work a favor. Being a Nomad literally means you can work from anywhere.
Time Freedom.
Are you feeling like you don’t have control over your life? Your schedule? Maybe you feel like you’re wasting time commuting or “dressing up” for a 9-5? Being a nomad gives you back your most precious resource: time. There is no commute (unless you want one), no dressing up (unless you want to), and no fixed schedule or deadline (except the ones you agree to or create). It is wonderfully liberating to design a schedule that suits you and your lifestyle. Does that mean there are no parameters? Nope. But it does mean that you are the Game Master and can design your life the way you want or need to.
You are not financially reliant on one job.
As a Nomad, you get to choose where and with whom you work. Being tied to one 9-5 job or career can be limiting and leave you dependent. When you develop the skills to be a Nomad, you get the freedom to decide to what degree you will rely on one client, gig, or remote position. Feeling too dependent on one income source? Diversify. That can mean having multiple niches as well as multiple clients, gigs, or positions. So if one gig falls apart or slows down, there are alternatives to rely upon. It’s all up to you and what you choose to do with your skills, expertise, time, and resources.
Less Stress.
Being a nomad dramatically reduces stress levels. Studies have shown that the daily commute causes resentment and stress for most workers. Not to mention the staggering loss of time attributed to the commute each day. Office politics is another major stressor for workers; as is pulling the weight of co-workers that are not contributing or being “team players”. Eliminating these stressors can significantly increase happiness. Especially when you feel like your work is contributing in a positive and meaningful way to your clients without the gossip, tension, and traffic.
Variety is the Spice of Life
Being a Nomad, especially a digital nomad, allows you the opportunity to explore multiple niches at the same time. Want to try copywriting and social media management? You can! How about a book editor and web designer? You can! The sky is the limit. It’s recommended to make sure you are working on something that is interesting to you because it could become unpleasant quite quickly if you choose something you don’t like. But, you already know that.
Entrepreneur 101
Becoming a Nomad is frequently a boot camp, jump right in the hot seat, learn as you go experience. You will develop business skills on the fly. How to get clients, “sell” yourself, manage your time, invoicing and record-keeping, growing your brand or business, and much more. It is exciting and challenging. Those skills that you develop will be useful no matter where this Nomad lifestyle takes you.
Bon Voyage.
